AT&T’s statement released earlier in the day certainly indicated that the company was totally blindsided by the DoJ’s move — and [T-Mobile USA CEO Phillipp] Humm echoes that, saying that both AT&T and Deutsche Telekom were “surprised by this sudden announcement” and vowing that the companies will fight it out with the government in court.
So let me get this straight. The second largest player in a market that the FCC won’t declare competitive wants to buy the number four player and the two companies are “surprised” that the Justice Department doesn’t approve of the proposed merger? Shows how corrupt this country really is.
